You can’t be Basic

Word by Seth Martin

Matthew 5:13-16 – New International Version (NIV) – 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Basic is defined as an average person, nothing special about them. This generation is a little bit on the basic side. Everyone aspiring to be like everybody else. No one sees God. He has called His people to be different! Christians cannot look like everyone else! The Lord, on high has called us to walk differently through life. We CANNOT be basic.

How do we avoid being basic?

1. You have to recognize that God has placed you on a platform or pedestal of sorts. So that others can see how you are living. On this pedestal, people should be able to see Jesus in you. You are special, and have the Lord in you. You should walk, talk and live like you are special!

2. You represent more than just yourself. The moment you give your life to God, you are a representation of him. It is a good thing because God is gloried through your life.
