Has anyone else felt like college has got them closer to God? Or made you more spiritual? I’m definitely not the most religious person in the world but my spirituality and faith in God has definitely grown since I’ve been in school. Sometimes when you’re young you don’t always understand why your parents are in church shouting and praying so hard until you’re on your own. College has taught me first hand if you don’t have anyone you have God and he’s definitely listening even if he doesn’t respond when you think he should.
My goal each year is to go to church more often, while I’m at home I go almost every Sunday probably because my family is very involved in church but I need it most in school so I have to make more of an effort. Although, I don’t go to church every Sunday I do make an effort to read a bible verse a day and pray multiple times a day because in all honesty it does make a difference in your day. Two or three times a month I go into a deep meditation where I turn off everything and play some relaxation or yoga music. In this time I just clear my mind and pray especially when I feel every overwhelmed, I normally do this for 30 minutes to an hour and it totally makes a difference.
We all have different understanding of religion and spirituality so we all have to use the things that work for us. There is no right or wrong way to connect with God and we all are on different levels but all we can do is work together without judging each other. At the end of the day we are all working to a goal and that’s to build a relationship with God.
