“Be the Example That You Needed Growing Up,”

So the other day I see this IG post from @YesIAmBella.

Sometimes you have to take a step back and evaluate what you are doing with your life. Think about how frustrated you were growing up when you searched for role models that looked like you or behaved similarly to you or had similar goals. Think about how much easier your life would’ve had the role model. Somewhere out there is a little girl EXACTLY like you, wanting the same things as you do. She deserves a role model just like you. We often come up with excuses of why we didn’t do certain things with your life or why you didn’t do take this life path.  We didn’t have the right resources or didn’t learn enough. We can’t let those excuses weigh us down from our purpose. Keep walking and living in your purpose, because you never know who is watching you, or admiring you from afar.

Be encouraged and keep it classy,

“A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.” – James Keller

You should always try to light the candle of another person, in other words, inspire them. Honestly, you have nothing to lose, you can only gain. The world can literally only gain from having more light in the world. As Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.” So start today by encouraging people to pursue their dreams, and goals and lighting more candles in the world. Be a positive force of goodness, that spreads like a wildfire. Stay Encouraged.

“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that an air plane takes off against the wind, not with it.” ~Henry Ford

Even when things get hard and seem impossible, you must keep going! You can do whatever you set your mind to. Just like a plane, once you start taking off you will be unstoppable. When things start to get overwhelming, stop and take a moment to reground for a moment, and then keep going! Stay Encouraged.

Love Yourself Challenge Week Four: Positive Mantra

This week’s Challenge was to come up with a positive mantra to place around me that would be a daily reminder of my life missions, and encouragement for the days that get a little rough. Throughout my life, I have had many mantras to get me through tough situations in my life. For me, these mantras have just been a way to calm myself down when things are getting hectic and disorganized in my life. Normally they are very specific to whatever situation I am going through. When I was struggling with my self-esteem and image, I had the mantra: “You Are Enough.” It literally helped me when I would get denied opportunities, or relationships, or anything. I had to remind myself that no matter what, God gave me every tool I needed to make it in this life.

Recently I’ve been enjoying life so much more, I thought it was time to upgrade my mantra. Right now my mantra is: “Peace in the storms, Adventure in the good times, Happiness and Love Always, God Forever.” So my mantra is a little long, but each part is applicable to anyone’s life. “Peace in the storms,” my granddad said this to me once during a hurricane and its stuck with me ever since. This part isn’t just for physical storms (although they are pretty scary!), but also metaphorical storms in your life. When everything seems to be going badly, or things are out of  your control, peace is the only thing that will calm you down because the majority of life is out of our control anyways. “Adventure in the good times,” is just a reminder that I should be taking every opportunity to get out and explore the world. I think that I am too scared to do a lot of things, and fear holds so many people back from their dreams! “Happiness and Love always” because the world needs more happy people, as well as people who love fearlessly and passionately. I am trying to love people more genuinely, and just make sure everyone that I encounter obtains a little more happiness from knowing/meeting me. “God Forever” is a tribute to my ever growing relationship with God, that I am working very hard to improve daily.

“Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim.” – Nora Ephron
The only thing in your entire existence that you can somewhat control is your life. Why would you ever choose to the be the victim in the story of your life? Always be the heroine. Being a victim isn’t who you are, or at least not who you are anymore. Stand up for yourself. Be strong. Be assertive. Have courage. But most of all help someone else become the hero or heroine of their own lives. We need more heroes in this sometimes bleak life.
Stay encouraged.

“But remember that you have to move on, somehow. You just pick your head up, and stare at something beautiful like the sky, or the ocean, and you move the hell on.” – James Patterson

Moving on is hard, because it requires you to let go of the past, and step into the unknown (also known as the future). But you have to move on, especially if you are currently in a situation that is causing you pain. Leaving your painful situations or negative people is not a sign of weakness – it’s the purest forms of self-love, self-preservation. It’s okay to walk out of someone’s life especially if you don’t feel wanted or cared for in their life. One of the best and most rewarding things you will ever do for yourself is love yourself. Once you’ve decided to let go of that pain and move on, you’ve become one of the strongest people in the world. You can do it, even when things get super hard. I believe in you. Stay Encouraged.

Break Out of Your Comfort Zone

Anyone who knows me knows I am very strategic, and a serious Type A person. I like things to be done a certain way, and in a certain manner. I always say if it’s not broken don’t fix it. I focus on planning and making things the best they can possibly be. With that being said, I am often told by many people that I am missing out on  life’s teachable moments and the glory of the unknown. (Which I still think is total bull.) But it was really starting to get to me.
So on my 21st birthday, instead of making a wish, I made myself a promise. I promised to become more adventurous, destroy my comfort zone, and to put myself out there more. I started trying new foods, applying to opportunities I thought I would never get in a million years, doing things that scare me (Like the 10 story slide in STL), and just being more adventurous with my life.
IT IS SO HARD, to break the habit of just keeping with the monotony of everyday life. But it has really changed my life.
It has definitely taught me that life is too short to be scared to do things. It has revealed to me, how much I doubt myself. Doubting myself isn’t good, but being able to recognize, and deal with it is. I am the most capable person to do anything I set my mind to.
So I encourage everyone who reads this to start being more adventurous with their lives because it makes it so much more EXCITING! Start trying new foods, talking to new people, and discussing new ideas. I believe that once you start breaking out of your comfort zone, your life will begin to change drastically. I cannot stress it enough. Once you do it, you will learn more about yourself, have new experiences, and learn about how much you can handle. I promise you won’t regret it!

Words [of] Encouragement Wednesday: 6/17

“Stop Trying to prove it to other people. Prove it to yourself.”

You will save so much time, and energy by not trying to prove yourself to other people. I mean think about it, once you prove it to them once, you’ll just feel like you have to keep proving yourself to gain their acceptance, and approval. Once you start proving to yourself, that you can do everything that you put your mind to, you will be much much much more satisfied with life, and feel more rewarded. Stay Encouraged.

“You Can.”
You can do any and everything you put your mind to! You want to lose 30 pounds, do it. You want to become smarter, start studying because you can be as smart as you want. You can dye your hair lime green, or blue. Stop allowing people to tell you what they think you can and can’t do. Honestly, they have no control over your life. You are the only person in control of YOUR life, so YOU CAN do whatever YOU want! Stay Encouraged.
